Every summer Walt Disney and Pixar release their newest animated flick. And each year, they never fail to deliver. When you think the last Pixar movie you saw is the best ever, the next one just seems to outdo all the previous ones. Not only do these animated movies wonderfully made, they all do really well in the box office.
The first full length computer animated film produced by Pixar Animation Studios is Toy Story back in 1995. That time, the movie created a huge impact on the film industry. So many industries became interested in computer animation technology used in the film. Toy Story demonstrated what computer animation can do in movie making, not to mention the film’s wonderful storyline and great humor.
Then in 1998 Pixar released its second film A Bug’s Life. It may not have achieved outstanding box office success as Toy Story but its $162 million domestic gross wasn’t bad at all. After A Bug’s Life, Pixar continued to come up with really entertaining and quality animated films each year.
One of Pixar’s biggest successes was with the 2003 movie Finding Nemo. The movie was the second highest grossing movie that year just behind The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King. To date, the movie is the mostcommercially successful film of Pixar.
Critics were all-praise about Finding Nemo, saying it was the best Pixar movie ever made. But just a few years back, Ratatouille came out and they all got twice amazed as they were with Finding Nemo. Many critics claimed that the new Pixar movie was the best movie that year and that Remy certainly outdid Nemo.
Many claimed that Pixar would have a hard time topping the rat flick, until last year’s Wall-E. Again, Pixar proved that they just can’t run out of superb ideas in film making and story telling. This coming May, all are gearing up for Pixar’s newest offering “Up”. At the moment, as much as I don’t want to have high expectations, I have this hunch that Pixar will deliver again as always. Pixar’s direction is definitely going “Up”.
